His Excellency the Italian Ambassador

1. The aims of the Bristol Anglo-Italian Circle are to promote knowledge of Italy and its culture by means of lectures, films and social events and thereby foster friendship between British members and those of the Italian community.

2. Meetings of the circle will normally be held monthly with the first meeting of the yearly programme in October.  The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be last meeting and will be held in June.

3. Meetings shall be open to members, guests and visitors, on payment of the required fee, which shall be set by the committee.

4. The committee shall comprise twelve members who shall be elected at the AGM to serve for a period of three years each and shall include representatives of the academic and general community.

5. One-third of the committee shall be required to resign annually.

6. Committee members may offer themselves for re-election for a further three year period.

7. No committee member shall serve for more than two consecutive three-year terms, unless a period of at least one year elapse between the end of the second three year period of office and another term.

8. New committee members shall be proposed in writing to the Chair prior to the AGM.  In the event that more proposals for membership are received than for positions vacant, membership shall be decided by the AGM by ballot at the AGM.

9. The committee shall elect from amongst their number members to act as Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
